Every guide on bizdaycalc is written and reviewed by Marcus Bennett, our editor and an operations & SLA workflow specialist. Before a guide is published or materially updated, it is checked against the current official holiday list and the guidance it relies on.

// Our sources

Primary sources, not second-hand summaries

We base our explanations on official sources. The sources we use most often are:

• GOV.UK bank holidays - the official list of England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland bank holidays.
• Acas - guidance on working time, holiday, and notice periods.
• legislation.gov.uk - the official text of UK statutes and regulations referenced in complaint and payment deadline guides.
• GOV.UK - official guidance on working days, delivery, and deadline rules.

// Review and dates

How content is reviewed and dated

• Last reviewed dates. Each guide shows a “Last reviewed” date so you know how current it is. We re-check a guide whenever official holiday or guidance dates change.
• Worked examples. Rules are tested against real dates, including weekends and UK bank holidays, before publication.
• Calculator alignment. Guides and calculators are checked together so the written rule matches what the tool returns.

Report an error

Business-day and deadline rules are detailed and change over time. If you spot an error or a rule that has changed, please contact us with the page and the source you are relying on. We review corrections promptly and update the page and its “Last reviewed” date.
